These video files are the recordings of the narrations, documented in 2007, in the upper and lower Vasyugan river Khanty and communities with the consent of the speakers. The texts were narrated by the Khanty speakers to the researchers offering occasional interjections to the narration in Khanty, and then transcribed and translated into Russian and at a later time into English, and consequently glossed morphemically.

The video files in the database are stored in two modes: the high quality mpeg1 format and the downsized mpeg4 format. To view the video file click on the video file link icon () to the left, open a new window and play with any available video player.

The recording can be followed along with the transcript in Mode i) opened by clicking on a Text File in a separate window.

The transcribed Eastern Khanty texts are represented in this database in two modes:

Mode i) – a 1-tier notation of the Eastern Khanty vernacular in the IPA transcription (using DoulosSIL Unicode compatible fonts);

Mode ii) - a unified 3-tier notation: Eastern Khanty vernacular in the IPA transcription (using DoulosSIL Unicode compatible fonts); English language morphemic glossing using the Leipzig glossing rules; and free English language translation of sentences.

The corpus of the transcribed texts of the recordings in the 3-tier notation Mode ii) can be accessed from the Language data page.

Some of the texts are also converted into ELAN multimedia format combining the video, audio and text media.

The information about the speakers and locations can be viewed on a separate page by clicking on the corresponding links (Speaker info) and (Location info).
