Settlement name

Myldgino.

Geographical Location:

Middle Vasyugan river area, on the tributary Njurol’ka not far from confluence with Vasyugan.

Population:

Approx. 1500

Population ethnicity:

Majority non-native population, minority Vasyugan Khanty & Vasyugan Selkup (southern Samoyed) less 1%.

Local/Historical Context:

Formerly a traditional Eastern Khanty settlement, enlarged in 1930’s within the forced migration (exile) and collectivization policies. Major local timber industry production in 1950-1980’s. Maintained by association with a nearby major natural gas production.
