study on mass media and peoples' represenations of people
with mental disability and illness in Latvia.
The study was conducted in 2004/2005. After a literature review on the topic, a content analysis and qualitative analysis of publications in a represenatative of newspapers and magazines in Latvia (both in Latvian and in Russian) was conducted in order to explore how mass media represent people with mental illness and disability. Then focus group interviews with Latvian and Russian spekaing media users were carried out in order to investigata general publics attitudes and knowledge about mental health, people with mental illnesses and disability and to identify the main sources of information.
