LAWRENCE LIANG

Lawrence Liang is a researcher with the Alternative Law Forum, Bangalore. A graduate of the National Law School, Lawrence Liang subsequently pursued his Masters degree in Warwick, England on a Chevening Scholarship. His key areas of interest are law, technology and culture, and the politics of copyright. He has been working closely with Sarai, New Delhi on a joint research project Intellectual Property and the Knowledge/Culture Commons. A keen follower of the open source movement in software, Lawrence has been working on ways of translating the open source ideas into the cultural domain.

Biography

Eve GrayMy background is in university press and academic textbook publishing and I run a publishing strategy consultancy, Eve Gray & Associates, based in Cape Town. I have a particular interest in the potential of electronic media and new copyright models to open up the volume and increase the impact of African scholarly publishing. I am affiliated, as an Honorary Research Associate, to the Centre for Educational Technology at the University of Cape Town, a unit that enables, promotes and investigates the integration of technology in teaching and learning in higher education.
