Steel politics in post-communist states: Rusting away?
The objectives of the project are to examine the process of the post-communist transformation, restructuring, and adaptability of the iron and steel sector in Poland and Ukraine; compare the interaction between the state and industry in both countries; identify the key industrial restructuring issues; develop policy recommendations on increasing state institutional capacities in shaping the performance of the iron and steel sector for Polish and Ukrainian industrial policymakers and international financial institutions; and write a research and policy paper for Poland's Ministries of Economy and Industrial Policy and the State Treasury, and Ukraine's Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Industrial Policy, the State Property Fund, and Ukrainian Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Property and Investments.
