2006 - 2007: Tanzanite Al-Qaeda link: The case of policy failures In Tanzania
The objectives of the project are to examine the level and causes of the misuse of resources from minerals and tanzanite in particular and initiate pro-poor policy changes for ensuring that minerals resources benefit the public, provide policy options to improve transparency and accountability in the handling of foreign direct investment (FDI) with respect to mineral resources in Tanzania borrowing on experience from Botswana; and write policy study and research paper for the Parliamentary Committee for Investment and Trade, Ministry of Energy and Minerals, Vice President's Office (Good Governance Department), the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) and the Tanzania Chamber of Minerals.
