Lessons from Slovakia's transition reform process
The objectives of the project are to research and document the transformation process in Slovakia and identify key actors, interest groups and influences; analyze challenges to the reform process and its institutional strengths and weaknesses; include several concrete case studies analyzing certain reform areas (e.g. reform of the Labor Code) to demonstrate institutional failures and recommend how reform constituencies can be developed to address particular issues (e.g. reform of the collateral system); summarize Slovakia's experience with the aim of offering lessons for other countries undertaking similar transition reforms; and write a research and policy paper for relevant policymakers in the Slovak and other CEE governments and international institutions including the World Bank.
