2004 - 2005: Rights of people with mental disabilities: Media strategies for raising awareness
The objectives of the project are to investigate how people with mental disabilities are represented by the mass media in Latvia; develop and test media communication strategies regarding this issue; prepare guidelines for journalists and journalism students; compile a handbook for mental disability advocacy institutions and individuals (e.g. the Mental Disability Advocacy Program, Association of Mental Health Care Professionals and Human Rights and Ethnic Studies Center, etc.); and write a research and policy paper for the Latvian Ministry of Welfare.
