Participation in IPF seminar gave me useful experience in policy paper writing, new contacts. Meeting with group mentor Gordana Jankovich and Stiwart Chisholm helped me to reconstruct methodology part of my research and to make purposes of research more political oriented. (March)

I prepared an article “Worlds of Islam: to the question of mass-media’s modeling” for the All-Russian Congress of Policy Scientists (in print). (March)

With the help of my mentor Rinat Nabiev I met with some representatives of Muslim Religious Board of Tatarstan and presented for them purposes of my research. (April 2003)

I transformed the mechanism of analyses of mass-media by creating a content-analyses blank. Milica Pesic and experience of her colleague – Snezana Milivojevic from Media Diversity Institute very helped me. (May)

I met with Oleg Panfilov, Director of the Center for Journalism in Extreme Situation and we discuss the perspectives of collaborative work connected with the topic of my project.(May)

I participated in conference “Tatarstan by views of young foreign scientists” organized by Tatar Public Center. I made the acquaintance with some people who are very interested for my project: Marliz Biltz (Lubek University, Germany) studies the history of Tatar nationalistic movements in 1990s; Nail Garipov – redactor of newspaper “Vera” (Belief) which edited by Muslim Publishing House “Iman” (Kazan) and disseminated in all Russia by subscription. On the given research phase following investigation work was conducted: 1) analysis of law and professional journalists ethics; 2) studying of the discourse representation of Islam in opinions of Russian journalists; 3) the deep interviews to the representatives of Mass-media of republic - editor of the newspaper "Vera" and Chief of Journalism faculty of the Kazan state university), Muslim religious figures (11 men) and representatives of Tatar nationalistic movement; 4) analysis of publications concerning Islam from the period of Nord-Ost tragedy and the Holliday of Kurban-Bairam.
