A REFORMER'S LESSONS LEARNED:  THE CASE OF THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC
EBRD: Law in Transition, Fall 2002


This article explores lessons learned from the Slovak transition experience over the last four years focusing on the need for political support and human capacity in making legal reform progress. It discusses the successes and setbacks in three areas:  amendments to the Commercial Code (reform of company law), introduction of a new Labour Code and a new collateral law system. The article offers an insight into the legal reform process from the perspective of a country pursuing a reform agenda.
