Nellie Arina van Beelen (Nel)

Nel van Beelen from the Netherlands has been editor-in-chief of the annual publication Research for Sex Work since 1998. She is also active in the field of HIV/AIDS and migration through the international networks CARAM and the European Project AIDS & Mobility. Her area of interest is the consequences of the AIDS pandemic for marginalised and stigmatised population groups such as migrants, mobile people and sex workers.
She is also a volunteer at the Johannes Wier Foundation on health and human rights, a human rights group formed by medical professionals in the Netherlands. Her professional skills include editing (e.g. newsletters, books, articles and reports), writing (e.g. reports, webpages), website development and the organisation of meetings.

From April 2003 she is the managing editor of the journal Sexual Health Exchange, on sexual and reproductive health issues in the developing world. This journal is published quarterly by the Royal Tropical Institute of the Netherlands, in co-operation with the NGO SAfAIDS in Zimbabwe.
