March 2004 Start of the work. Identification of the sites for fieldwork, besides Sofia
(one village and one small town). Identification of the core 28 respondents, who will
be regularly interviewed during the whole research period. Preparation of the first
questionnaires and interview guides.

April – October 2004. Regular interviews with the core 28 respondents, interviews
with new respondents and focus group discussions in the three sites. Monitoring of the
media and local community life for current corruption scandals.

November – December 2004. Writing the first draft of the report. Submitting it for comments
to key persons from the target audience.

January 2005. Final fieldwork, interviews and focus group discussions, following the comments
and the additional questions raised
