Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Geography (Moscow) and Institute of Informatic and Problems of Regional Development (Kabardino-Balkarian Scientific Center, Nalchik)

The main focus of research is the sustainable development of mountain areas, which encompasses the estimation of regional trends, risk factors, informal and formal institutions of land and resources use, analyses of the regional and local development strategies.

1994-1995 - investigation project at the University of Nuremberg-Erlangen (Germany), geographical department (project: Resources, hazards and sustainable development in the Yagnob river valley (Tajikistan).

1991-1995 - Organiser of works and head of expedition in Tajikistan (institute project “Tajikistan-XXI century. Electronic Atlas of development scenarios“, in co-operation with the University of UNO)

1986-1990 and 1996-2004 – Organiser of works and head of expedition in Northern Ossetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachaevo-Cherkessia, Adygea, Stavropol and Krasnodar Regions
