The potential of cross border cooperation in the
Hungarian-Romanian border area. The Bihor-Bihar Euro-region.
This
lecture provided another example of regional cross-border co-operation, The
Bihor-Bihar Euro-region in the Hungarian-Romanian border area. The lecturer
presented the institutional arrangements already established, which offer
opportunities for regional co-operation in various fields such as trade,
administration, health-care, education and environmental issues. The subsequent
discussion focused on the still existing obstacles on the way of fully
developed regional integration. Such
obstacle appears to be the lack of legal harmonization. It was discussed how to
overcome the effects originating from this situation.
