LECTURE 5

Human resource development and regional policies

The main issues raised during this lecture were the emergence of new economic sectors and the compatibility of new economic realities with existing educational structures. In this context, the problem proposed for debate required students to decide, where should the emphasis of  future strategies of economic and institutional development lay:  should the implementation of certain models functioning in the EU countries gain priority, or  rather, the  considerations emerging from taking into account the peculiar conditions of each particular home region should prevail?  The responses of students show a clear-cut differentiation between the two countries. While for students in Hungary, EU models and practices are coming first, for their colleagues from the Romanian side of the border, home region-based motives and perceptions of reality are determinant when devising their actions and future plans.
