The practically oriented aim of this research is to provide in-depth knowledge and information to specialists in the area of visual media, social work, policy and administration, for the improvement and advancement of a continuum of political and social opportunities which promote the access of deaf to television transmitted information, as well as to encourage the efficient management and operation of programs, program service centers and public policy units providing for the informational needs of the deaf.

The results of research will be published in refereed journals, both in Romania and abroad and shall be distributed to public authorities and institutions, visual media companies, as well as to NGO-s involved in dealing with the problems of deaf. I hope that proposals for the  improvement of national legislation in support of the access of information for deaf will result from the investigation.

I am also confident that the empirical data to be collected and the conclusions to be reached will be helpful in promoting program development which assures cooperative efforts among all important factors involved: media representatives and experts, local authorities, governmental departments of public information, deaf communities and other public and private agencies working to improve the informational opportunities for hearing impaired.
