TIRANA - THE CAPITAL CITY

This is the main building of Tirana University built in the 1930s at the end of a tree-lined central city boulevard.

The Boulevard Shtetorja Deshmoret e Kombit is for Tirana what the Champs d'Elysees is for Paris.

This is the beautiful and elegant Mosque of Ethem Bey on Skanderbeg Square. The Mosque and the Clocktower are the most photographed symbols of Tirana.

THE ADRIATIC COAST

The fortress of Butrint has played an important part in Greek, Roman and Byzantine history. Today the it offers wonderful views of the island of Corfu across the sea.

The bay of Porto Palermo in Southern Albania. It used to be a submarine naval base.

THE RUGGED MOUNTAINS

The towering Cica mountains are part of the Llogara National Park. They probably offer the most dramatic and beautiful views of unspoilt landscapes along either coast of the Adriatic sea. The road towards the Llogara Pass is climbing steeply, offering stunning views.

IMPRESSIONS

The old city of Gjirokastra, famous for its architecture, was built as a mountain stronghold - to many visitors of Albania it represents the essence of the country: severe, beautiful and uncompromising in spirit.  The south of Albania around the fortress of Butrint is famous for its colourful and rich vegetation.

Saranda is an attractively situated port and seaside town in southern Albania.

SUNSET IN VLORA

I hope you liked my impressions of Albania. As the sun sets it is time to say: See you in Albania, or in Albanian: Mirupafshim në Shqipëria!
